Information

The Studio

Creative Nectar Studio is located in Mission, Kansas, just off Johnson Dr at Woodson, behind the Mission  Theater. We use painting for process as a tool for self-discovery within a safe, non-judgemental  environment. The studio can accommodate approximately 10 painters at one time. Our painters are  generally 18 years or older but if you think this process would be perfect for someone younger please give  us a call.

Materials

A buffet of color awaits you. The central paint table holds 32 pre-mixed colors of low-viscosity, non-toxic paint that will glide right off your brush.

We use tempera paints, student brushes, and white roll paper. The impermanence of the materials helps us let go of attachments, as they are not made for archival purposes. The intention is to paint freely, without mental blocks about the materials being too "precious" or expensive.

While the paint washes out of most clothing, you are encouraged to wear or bring clothes that you will not be concerned about while painting (so that you can get messy if you feel so moved!) We do have a few paint shirts that can be used if needed.

Facilitation

We provide gentle facilitation when painters feel stuck to get the creative juices flowing. Without analysis or critique, we meet you where you are with present-moment awareness and use guiding questions to bring you into your own experience. The answers are already within—We just help draw them out.

Community

The closing circle is a valuable time of community-building and reflection. We usually spend the last half-hour of the painting session in the closing circle reflecting on our experiences and sharing if we feel led to share. In this safe and supportive community, all experiences are embraced. It's an amazing gift we can give others when we listen to them whole-heartedly, without trying to change or "fix" them. And when others share from the heart, we, in turn, are given permission to do the same.
